Entamizole syrup is an antibiotic and belongs to a group of medications known as nitroimidazole derivatives. It is also available in tablets, infusions, and gels. The generic name for Entamizole Syrup is (Diloxanide Furoate/Metronidazole Benzoate). This syrup contains metronidazole and diloxanide furoate. The ingredient metronidazole is an antibiotic and antiprotozoal drug that does not react to viral infections. It functions by stopping bacteria and protozoa growth.
Its also available in the form of Entamizole Tablet(250/200mg), and Entamizole DS Tablet (500mg/400mg).
Uses:
Entamizole syrup works for certain bacterial infections by targeting the bacteria and obstructing non-essential enzymes that are present in the DNA of the bacteria. In addition to this diloxanide furoate is an anti-protozoal drug that helps to exterminate the protozoa in asymptomatic patients. It can be consumed alone but for the good result, it is given in combination with metronidazole. This medication is helpful in all groups of ages; from children to elders. You can be prescribed this if you have a stomach ache or diarrhea and your doctor thinks you have a stomach infection. In children it is used for many purposes; gastrointestinal infections such as acute diarrhea or dysentery, gynecological infections, lung infections, and urinary infections. This medication is primarily described for the treatment of diarrhea or dysentery.

Overdose:
Symptoms of overdose include nausea, drowsiness, dizziness, numbness, and facial swelling.
(In case of overdose consult your doctor immediately or rush to the nearest hospital).
Missed Dose:
If you missed the dose immediately take it as soon as you remember it. If it is time for your next dose, then skip the missed dose and continue your medication as regular dosing schedule.
Consumption:
It can be taken with food as food doesn’t affect the ways it works.

Pregnancy:
It is preferred not to take the Entamizole O tab if you are pregnant because its consumption (if you are pregnant or planning to have a baby) may harm your baby. (If you conceive while using this medicine you should stop its consumption immediately and consult your doctor.
Breastfeeding:
It passes through human breast milk so you should stop using this medicine. Although breastfeeding should be discontinued while taking this medicine.
While Driving:
Entamizole causes dizziness, visual disturbance, temporary loss of consciousness, rigidity, or impairment of cells. It is appropriate not to drive if you experience such symptoms.
Alcohol:
It is not suitable to consume alcohol because it can worsen dizziness.
